Last Thursday on the 15th August 2013, SingTel started offering direct carrier billing for Google Play purchases. They are the first in Southeast Asia to offer that.

This simple and convenient payment option will be available to all SingTel mobile postpaid customers and will also be progressively rolled out to Optus and SingTel’s regional associates.

With this payment option in place, you do not need a credit card to pay for apps and content on Google Play. Do note that all Google Play purchases have to be made in Singapore currency.

For more information, check out SingTel’s Android Page, or you can view Google Play’s Accepted payment & direct carrier billing methods.

Since my HTC One’s line is under my company’s name, I did not sign up for the direct carrier billing. Instead, I captured some screenshots to show how you can switch yours from Credit Card to Direct Carrier Billing.
