In a blink of an eye, this year Lunar New Year is almost over. Tomorrow is the 7th day of Lunar New Year which is also called “Ren Ri”. In English, it means people day aka everybody birthday. Lunar New Year celebration normally last for 15 days.

Lunar New Year is getting a little repetitive and boring as we grow up, sooner or later, the current or next generation of people will just treat it as another public holiday.

When we are young, we are carefree, used to play with our cousins, running around below the void deck and playing with fireworks and crackers. When we grew a little bit older, we will gamble a little a bit and perhaps play console game. When we are even older, we have our own things and we would rather go home and do our work rather than hang around at our relative place. Once upon a time, we spend like 2 days of Lunar New Year at my grandparent place, then it become 1 whole day and then it becomes a few hours only on the first day. And normally by the first day, we are done with visiting. The second day is normally used to watch movies as well as to catch up with sleep/rest.

The number of shops in shopping centers opened throughout the Lunar New Year are increasing, as I believed that earning money is definitely much more important than visiting especially in the year of recession, further more the pay on public holiday is suppose to be double according to Labour Law in Singapore.

When I was young, I always look forward to Lunar New Year because of red packets as I can use the money to buy the stuffs that I liked. When I grew older and has the capability to earn money, the enthusiasm gets lesser but of course I still like the money inside the red packer, lol. This is the last year I will receive red packet as a student as next year onwards I will be working and I suppose to give red packet to my parents as well as my grandparents.

Anyway, next week onwards, I shall be extremely busy because the 1st deadline of my projects all falls on the 2nd week of February and I also have a midterm around that time as well.
