Apple might be opening the first Apple Store in Singapore next year at Knightsbridge (Orchard Road) according to an email sent to Pure Fitness Knightsbridge’s Patrons.

The Pure Group would like to confirm that we will be closing our Pure Fitness Knightsbridge location at the end of business on 15th December 2015.

We have been working with the landlord and other tenants of the building and, as part of these arrangements, Pure and other tenants will be handing back space to make way for the opening of a new Apple store in late 2016.

Pure is working with all customers to try and transfer them to other Pure locations and staff members will be redeployed in other locations.

As Singapore becomes healthier Pure is focused on expanding its complementary lifestyle offering. As well as actively looking for a bigger space on Orchard Road to continue to bring its members the latest and greatest fitness experience, Pure has already agreed terms to open a new Pure Yoga studio in the Central Business District in 2Q 2016 and is in the process of finalising negotiations on other gym locations to open in late 2016. We are also very excited that our very own dynamic activewear brand Pure Apparel will be launching its men’s collection in 2016.

Pure Management would like to thank their Knightsbridge customers for all their loyalty over the years and to thank them for their patience during this period. Pure is confident it will be able to facilitate a smooth transition to other locations for all customers.

This came seven months after an article on AsiaOne states that Apple was looking for space for a flagship retail outlet in Orchard Road.

*UPDATE 16th November 2015* Looks like this is pretty much confirmed in a statement to TechCrunch by Apple SVP of Retail Angela Ahrendts.

“We have more than 900 incredible employees working in our Singapore contact center and are thrilled to begin hiring the team that will open our first Apple Store in Singapore — an incredible international city and shopping destination,” Ahrendts said. “We can’t wait to deliver the service, education and entertainment that is loved by Apple customers around the world.”
