My brother and I celebrated our 29th and 34th birthday in Bali, Indonesia. We were there with our family, all the six of us.

It was my first time to Bali, and I was there from 22nd March 2018 until 25th March 2018.

The flight was essentially free for Li Xiang and I as I have redeemed my Circles.Life S$500 travel vouchers for reaching 50GB on their leaderboard.

I flew by Jetstar and stayed in Antara Villa which I booked through Airbnb. Antara Villa is located in Seminyak area. The villa comes with three bedrooms, four toilets (with bath) and a private pool.

Both of our air tickets cost S$594 (I topped up S$94), and Antara Villa costs S$731.37 for three nights.

For the first three days, we booked a full day transport for IDR550,000 (S$53) for 10 hours and if we exceeded the 10 hours, each additional hour would cost IDR50,000 (S$5). The price is pretty standard. If you need the contact, leave a comment behind, and I will get back to you.

Day 1 (22nd March 2018)
We reached Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) at about 10.15am. We are too early for check-in, so we went for an early lunch at Nook. Food there was average, but the ambiance was nice.

Traffic in Bali is pretty bad but not as bad as Jakarta or Bangkok. So you need to factor in an additional 30 minutes on top of Google Map’s estimated time.

Checked-in to our Villa at 3 pm and after that we went to walk around Seminyak, which is their shopping area. It is pretty boring and nothing much to shop.

Stopped over the hyped Revolver Espresso at Seminyak. Personally, I find the coffee just average at most.

We cafe hop to Corner House and since the coffee beans are by Revolver Espresso, the coffee there is average as well.

Dinner was at Mama San Bali. We did not book, and hence we are given an hour only as they have reservations at 7.30 pm. We are there at 6 pm since they are only open at 6 pm for dinner.

Food wise, it is pretty good. They serve up Asian fusion cuisine, and they change their menu every six months, so some of the tips left on Foursquare are no longer applicable.

Day 2 (23rd March 2018)
The first meal of the day was at Sisterfields. The prices are not low by Bali’s standard, but the food is delicious, and I recommend it.

We proceed on to Ubud, which is about 90 minutes drive from Seminyak. We did the touristy thing like visiting Tegenungan Waterfall, Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Ubud Art Market, and Tanah Lot Sunset Terrace.

Tegenungan Waterfall cost IDR15,000 (S$1.50) per pax; we drove past Tegallalang Rice Terraces, so we don’t have to pay. Tanah Lot Sunset Terrace cost IDR60,000 (S$6) per pax, and the view is charming. But it is one of those attractions that you just have to visit once, and that’s it.

Lunch was at d’Alas Warung. They serve Balinese food, and it is not bad. The view is good as it is facing the rice terrace. They have swings there for adults to play.

Dinner was at Merah Putih. They serve Indonesian food and prices are on the high side. Food is not bad, but I don’t think it is worth the money.

Day 3 (24th March 2018)
We stayed at the Villa till noon and went to Naughty Nuri for lunch. Naughty Nuri serves grilled food, and the prices are very reasonable. I love the food there. The beef, pork chop, ribs, and chicken breast are good!

Went to Krisna to get some Bali’s peanuts. My mom said they are good!

We had high tea at W Bali Seminyak. I think it is mediocre and expensive. Each high-tea set cost IDR400,000 (S$39).

Dinner was at La Lucciola. Pasta is good; the mains are just average. Since it is near the beach, they are a lot of mosquitos at night. So remember to request for insect repellent.

Since it is my first time to Bali, I make it a point to visit Potato Head Beach Club. We had my birthday celebration there. The view and ambiance are excellent. But the dessert is a little too sweet. I will probably try out proper food there next time.

Day 4 (25th March 2018)
Before heading to the airport, we had an early lunch at Warung D’Sawah. Food was pretty average, but the view and ambiance are good.

Surprisingly, there are quite a few restaurants at the airport. Both before and after immigration. We tried Last Wave after clearing immigration.

The food there is good, but service is lacking as the restaurant is big and they do not have as much service staff.

LV Monogram Canvas Card Holder
Thanks to my brother and sister-in-law for the LV Monogram Canvas Card Holder. I lost the previous one which is also bought by both of them eight years ago.

I promise to be more careful this time!
