HyperDrive 7-in-2 USB-C Hub started out from a Kickstarter project where it raised a total of US$1,842,141 from 20,680 backers.

It was launched on 6th December 2016, successfully funded on 17th January 2017, and shipment started in late February 2017.

As the product name sounds, HyperDrive 7-in-2 Hub uses your two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports on the MacBook Pro and expands it into seven ports.

I am impressed with the build quality. It is solid and doesn’t wobble after attaching it to your MacBook Pro. Its footprint is small and light which makes it easy to carry around in your bag.

The only downside of this hub is if Apple comes out with a new MacBook Pro and the space between the two Thunderbolt 3 ports changed, you will not be able to use this hub any longer.

Comparing this type of fixed hub vs. a hub with a short cable, the latter is more future proof.

The HyperDrive 7-in-2 Hub has been in the market for close to two years and is recently being discontinued. Hyper has since released the successor to this product, which is the HyperDrive DUO 7-in-2 USB-C Hub.

That is the reason why HyperDrive is having a 50% discount for this product. Its usual retail price is US$99.99 (S$138), but now it is going for just US$49.99 (S$69).

All products from Hyper has a fixed shipping fee of US$15 (S$21) to Singapore.

Similar to the HyperDrive 4K HDMI 3-in-1 USB-C Hub, I have a 20% discount coupon code, 9to5mac, from 9to5mac.com.

So if you factor in the 20% discount code and splitting the shipping cost for two products, I paid (US$49.99 * 0.8) + (US$15 * 0.5) = US$47.49 (S$66) for it.
