Sudio has finally jumped on the active noise cancelling (ANC) wireless earbuds bandwagon with the launch of Sudio Ett.

I have been waiting for Sudio to launch ANC wireless earbuds, as that is the next obvious choice for their wireless earbuds product line.

Sudio Ett retails for S$239, just S$20 more expensive than the Sudio Fem, and you will get ANC.

Sudio Ett overtook Sudio Fem as the most expensive earbuds but with good reasons: Active Noise Cancellation and Wireless Charging Case.

It is available in four colors, White, Black, Green, and Pink. The Green is a beautiful color to go with the Midnight Green of your iPhone 11 Pro (which I am using).

Shipping to Singapore is free via DHL. Due to COVID-19, It will take ten to twelve business days to reach you, an increase from two to five business days.

If you need a 15% discount, you can use the coupon code: LESTERCHANETT, and that will make the final price of your Fem to be S$203.15.

On top of the Sudio Ett, Sudio will be throwing in a free tote bag, crossbody pouch, and gift wrapping.

The Apple AirPods Pro and the Sony WF-1000XM3 have firmware updates to their earbuds so that it can fix bugs along the way. Sudio doesn’t have any app, and hence it doesn’t provide the firmware update to any of its earbuds.

Unboxing
I have the Sudio Ett in Green for my wife and Sudio Ett in black for myself.

It comes with eight pairs of ear tips. Five sizes for the circular ear tips (XS, S, M – default, L, XL) and three sizes for the oval ear tips (S, M, L).

The default ear tip on the Sudio Ett is the medium circular ear tips, which I think doesn’t isolate sound good enough. I changed it to the large oval ear tips.

Design
The design of Sudio ETT is similar to that of the AirPods Pro, where there is a short stem sticking out from the earbuds.

The earbuds itself is not as bulky and heavy as the Sony WF-1000XM3.

I have no problem wearing it for a few hours as it is quite comfortable.

Sudio color matches the chrome plating around the tip of the stem with the earbud color. Previously, for Sudio Fem, it stays in chrome regardless of the earbud color. I am not a fan of chrome plating, that is why I didn’t choose the white.

The single multi-function button on each bud allows you to perform various functions:

  • Hold 2s: Toggling ANC On/Off, Reject Call
  • Press Once: Play/Pause Music, Answer/End Call
  • Double Press: Next Song
  • Triple Press: Previous Song

You can’t increase or decrease the volume using the button, so you will have to rely on the volume control of your device instead.

Charging Case
I am glad they got rid of the circular charging case (I hope for good) for the Sudio Ett because it makes it looks bulky. I am against circular charging cases.

The charging case for Sudio Ett is upright, and it can stand up on its own, unlike the charging case for the AirPods Pro and the Sony WF-1000XM3.

You can wireless charge the charging case by placing the charging case (Sudio logo facing up) flat on any Qi wireless charger.

The USB-C charging port is on the side of the charging case. So your charging case can remain upright when being charged.

Sudio love to attach a handle to its charging cases. For the Sudio Ett, it is no exception as well. However, this time it feels more premium as the handle looks more like a strap rather than a rope. If you do not like it, you can remove it; it is removable.

Battery
Battery capacity remains the same as Sudio Fem. 50 mAh for each earbud and 500 mAh for the charging case.

Without ANC, you will get six hours of playtime on a single charge similar to the Sudio Fem.

With ANC, you will get about four hours of playtime on a single charge.

The charging case will provide about five charges to your earbuds, providing 30 hours of total playtime without ANC and 20 hours of playtime with ANC.

From 0% to fully charged, the charging time for the earbuds is around 60 minutes, and the charging case is about 90 minutes. If you charge both together, it takes about 90 minutes.

ANC
Unlike the Sony WF-1000XM3, there is no app to control the ANC of the Sudio Ett. So it is either ANC on or ANC off. You can’t control the level of ANC.

Testing the ANC with my favorite Airplane Cabin White Noise, it manages to block out most of the noises. No complaint in this area.

By default, ANC is turned off when the Sudio Ett is connected to your device. I wish it is on by default rather than me keep pressing the button for 2s to turn the ANC on whenever I connect.

Audio Quality
The audio quality is alright, with balanced sounds and clear vocals. The bass is slightly weak, so I still like the audio quality from my Sony WF-1000XM3 as it has strong bass. It is a personal preference, so your mileage may vary (YMMV).

These days with all the work from home arrangement, using the Sudio Ett for calls is perfect because of the environmental noise-canceling microphones in the earbuds.

Do note that when you are taking a call, the Studio ETT will switch to audio transparency mode. This allows you to hear the ambient noise around you so that you do not feel like you are talking in a vo

My room is beside a slightly noisy road, and when I take calls, there will be a standing fan blowing at me. The Sudio Ett managed to cancel most of the environmental noise during my call.

Conclusion
I would consider Sudio Ett as a midrange ANC wireless earbuds. If you are looking at ANC earbuds to upgrade to in the S$200+ range, the Sudio Ett will be a good choice to get you started.
