ErgoTune Supreme (2020) is a successor to the original ErgoTune ergonomic chair with lumbar support which was released by ErgoEdge last year.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) comes in two colors, Charcoal Black and Coral Red, and a 12-year warranty.

Since this month is the launch of ErgoTune Supreme (2020), they are having a launch month promotion, valid till 31st October 2020. So the ErgoTune Supreme (2020) will be retailing for S$599 instead of the usual price of S$750.

Installation
I got my ErgoTune Supreme (2020) back on 12th September 2020, and hence it might be an early review unit. So the final retail packaging might differ.

Installation took about 20 minutes with two people. Eight different parts will be assembled to form the ErgoTune Supreme (2020).

Design
The most significant difference between ErgoTune and ErgoTune Supreme (2020) is the design.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Front
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Front

ErgoTune Supreme (2020)’s design feels very polished and makes the original ErgoTune feels like a prototype.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) vs ErgoTune (2019)
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) vs ErgoTune (2019)

ErgoTune’s logo is visible now and can be seen from the headrest and at the back of the chair.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Back

My number one complaint of the original ErgoTune is the mesh, as it is a little sticky and rough.

ErgoTune (2019) - Mesh
ErgoTune (2019) – Mesh

ErgoEdge solves this issue by using a new material for the ErgoTune Supreme (2020). ErgoEdge called it the DuraWeave.

DuraWeave is a hybrid mesh upholstery consisting of a blend of fabric and polyester. It is soft, breathable, and smooth to touch.

The base and the casters now in black, whether you choose the Charcoal Black or Coral Red. I find it much nicer than the original chrome variant.

Headrest
Besides the default 60° tilt angle, the headrest can now be adjusted to move forward and backward.

Fully Adjustable Armrest
The adjustable armrest has also been upgraded, and ErgoTune called it the GyroBrace, which is a 5D armrest.

For the original ErgoTune, it is known as a 4D armrest because it can move in four different ways, front/back, up/down, left/right, and slight rotation.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Armrest Rotated

The one extra D in the 5D of the ErgoTune Supreme (2020) is the full rotational capability of the armrest. So you can rotate the armrest at any angle you like.

The manual armrest height adjustment of the original ErgoTune is a little cumbersome because it is based on a lift and lock mechanism.

For ErgoTune Supreme (2020), it has been changed to push to release mechanism. There is now a button to press and release the lock for you to adjust the height of the armrest.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Armrest Button

The material of the armrest is still too firm for my liking. I hope it can be softer.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) armrest is shorter than the original ErgoTune, and I find it too short for my arms.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) vs ErgoTune (2019) - Armrest Length
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) vs ErgoTune (2019) – Armrest Length

Despite that, there are two length settings of the armrest, maximum length and minimum length. The cushion on the armrest doesn’t cover the full length of the armrest since it is fixed.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Armrest Extended
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Armrest Extended

Backrest
The backrest can be tilted till 136°, and it is still based on the lift and lock mechanism of the original ErgoTune.

Auto Tuning Lumbar Area Support, aka ATLAS, is one of the selling points of the original ErgoTune, and with ErgoTune Supreme (2020), the design became more seamless as it is now integrated with the backrest.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - ATLAS
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – ATLAS

This makes it look like a one-piece backrest rather than two separate pieces.

Despite the change in design, I do not feel there is a difference in the ATLAS; it still works as well and as expected.

Controls
The controls are mostly similar to the original ErgoTune.

On the left controls the seat depth and tilt lock.

On the right controls the seat height and tilt tension.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Controls
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Controls

Interestingly on the ErgoTune Supreme (2020), there are no prints on the control knobs to indicate what it is for.

Thoughts
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) is a worthy and a much-needed successor to the original ErgoTune.

The biggest thing it solves for me is the mesh. I love the new DuraWeave as it is smooth to your skin when you are seated on the chair.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Seat
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Seat

The design of the chair has also been upgraded to be more seamless and polished.

Most of the movable parts are also smoother when you are making adjustments.

ErgoTune Supreme (2020) - Seated - Armrest Too Short
ErgoTune Supreme (2020) – Seated – Armrest Too Short

If only the length of the armrest is longer and the cushion is softer, it would have been perfect for me.

*UPDATE* 30th March 2022 There is an updated version of ErgoTune Supreme 2020 which is the ErgoTune Supreme V3 (2022).
